Osmund was born in the 11th century in Normandy. In 1072 he became Chancellor of England under William the Conqueror. Then in 1078, he became Bishop of Salisbury where he remained for 21 years until his death in 1099. He is called upon as the patron saint of paralysis because a poor man by the name of Simon was cured of paralysis at Osmund's shrine in a cathedral in Salisbury, a cathedral which Osmund oversaw the building of.
