Antony was born to Niccolò and Thomasina Pierozzi, respected members of the Florentine Republic. Antony was received into the Dominican Order at the age of sixteen. As Bishop of Florence, he possessed all the virtues which distinguished the greatest bishops of antiquity. His apostolic zeal, charity, and austerity of life were the glory of the Florentine Church.

Also known as Antonius, Antoninus and Anthony.
