David was born in Henfynyw, Cardigan, around the year 542 A.D. His father, Sant, was a prince and his mother Non, was later canonized a saint in the Church, and his instructor in the faith was Saint Paulinus.

Saint David founded some twelve monasteries. These monasteries lived by strict hardship rule with very little speaking, hard work in the fields and not partaking in meet or fish as food.
